What to Expect when you visit 360 Osteopathic Clinic
We are a friendly and patient-centered practice (YOUR HEALTH IN OUR HANDS), so there is no need to feel anxious about your first visit to us and always feel free to ask a question.
At your first appointment we will listen to your concerns and take a detailed case history. This includes not only the background to your current problem but also any previous accidents, injuries or medical history, so that we can get an appreciation of how your body functions and so ensure that osteopathic treatment is appropriate for you.
With your consent, we may then ask you to remove some of your outer garments (please feel free to bring shorts and singlet if you feel more comfortable), so that we can properly assess your posture and bio mechanics.
Patients may be accompanied by a companion during all procedures. In addition, we may then ask you to perform some basic movements and simple orthopedic tests, such as reflexes, to help us to reach a diagnosis.
Following your examination, treatment may begin and we may offer advice on how best to continue the recovery process. Depending on the severity and prognosis of your condition, we will formulate a treatment program to be carried out over a number of visits. Some conditions, however, are of a chronic nature and may therefore require ongoing treatment for their control.
In the event that we suspect any underlying undiagnosed medical condition to be present we will refer you to your General Medical Practitioner or other health professional as appropriate.
Regarding appointments, we strive to adhere to a zero waiting policy and therefore we expect that you will aim to arrive at least 5 min prior to your scheduled appointment time.
Patients who are late by 15 min or more may not be able to be seen.
If it is impossible for you to keep your appointment it is important that you reschedule at least 6 working hours prior in order to avoid a default charge of $60 to be paid at the next visit.
We delight in your well-being.

What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions; it works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, nerves, muscles, ligaments and other soft tissues functioning smoothly together.
To an osteopath, for your body to work well, its structure must also work well. So osteopaths work to restore your body to a state of balance, where possible, without the use of drugs or surgery. Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to:
Patients seek osteopathic treatment for a wide variety of conditions, including back pain, changes to posture in pregnancy, postural problems caused by driving or work strain, the pain of arthritis and minor sports injuries. Patients include people of all ages and backgrounds including manual workers, office professionals, pregnant women, children and sports people.

- increase the mobility of joints
- relieve muscle tension
- enhance the blood and nerve supply to and from tissues
- Assist your body’s own healing mechanisms.

What Are the Benefits?
Osteopathic treatment concentrates on the relationship between the structure of the body - the skeleton, nerves, muscles, ligaments and soft tissues - and the way the body moves and functions; particular attention is paid to the spine, as it is the main channel for transmitting nerve signals from the brain to the organs and other parts of the body.
To an osteopath, the body functions as a complete, working system. So any problems that affect the body’s structure will upset the balance of ones general health. For this reason, an osteopath will not want to simply ease a specific problem, such as neck pain. An osteopath seeks to find the cause of the pain, which could be anything from physical injury to mental anxiety.
Osteopaths use gentle touch to examine, diagnose and treat people with physical and emotional problems.
Some osteopaths choose to develop further skills and expertise in the subspecialities such as:
Cranial Osteopathy/CranioSacral Therapy, a subtle type of treatment which release stress and strains throughout the tissues of the body, including the head and spine.
Visceral Manipulation, involves specifically and gently ‘unwinding’ the internal organs and their supporting ligaments and fascia.
